AWMS 2007 Conference Latest News (updated Oct 23 2007) The 2007 Conference will be held in the Shine Dome, Canberra, Australia, from 2-5 December. It is an Australian Academy of Science Fenner Conference on the Environment, with the theme of 'Wildlife Population Dynamics and Management', and celebrates AWMS's 20th anniversary as well as Graeme Caughley's career (download programme NEW). In line with this, the Australian Academy of Science will announce the winner of the Graeme Caughley Travelling Fellowship at the conference dinner. The 2007 conference will feature a number of international invited speakers in wildlife populations dynamics and management as well as a fantastic student symposium and prizes. The Venue The Conference is to be held at the Shine Dome at the Australian Academy of Science, Gordon Street, Canberra - see location map. The Shine Dome has been a Canberra landmark since its construction in 1959. Refurbished as part of the Centenary of Federation celebrations, the Shine Dome has excellent acoustics and the latest technological equipment and is located just a short walk from the accommodation options listed in the registration form, Canberra tourist attractions and city shops. Registration information A registration form (including additional conference information) can be downloaded, and registration completed by post, or you can register online. An Early Bird rate offers a saving on the full registration rate, if
paid before 16 October 2007.
Concessional and student registrations receive the same as the full registration. To be considered for a Student subsidy please see the registration form. Day registrations receive catering for the appropriate day of registration and all other items EXCEPT that the conference dinner is NOT included in the day registration rate. The price of $35 for the Icebreaker BBQ scheduled for the Sunday evening is not included in the registration rate. If you wish to attend, please tick the appropriate box and include this amount in the final payment. General Information Canberra airport is about a 15 minute drive and an $18-$20 taxi fare to the venue or to the city. The AirLiner bus service operates between Canberra City and Canberra Airport, Monday to Friday, every 30 minutes and on Saturday & Sunday approximately every hour. You can pick up the Airliner bus from the central terminal right outside the main doors. It will stop at hotels on request. The fare is only $7 one way and $12 return.
